Protected edit-request on July 8 2019

Template:Edit-protected It is requested that a change to the Dormancy Policy be made.

On the section Dormancy Policy#Exceptions from the Dormancy Policy, please change

Similar to the exemptions above, there are several wikis that are considered exceptions to this policy. The Dormancy Policy never has and never will apply to Meta Wiki (this central project wiki), loginwiki (which is required for technical reasons), commonswikiwiki (central image repository), cvtwiki, conductwiki, or staff wiki (which are all used for internal coordination).

Entered bad address for phabricator registration

Hi, I entered a misspelled email address when I was registering for phabricator. It keeps telling me that the email has been sent and won’t let me correct it. The correct address is in my miraheze account settings. Can you reset it? Thanks, Eddie

Inappropriate wiki.

Hello,

It has been brought to my attention that a section of your wiki site (https://truecapitalist.miraheze.org/wiki/Giant_Incident) you've hosted has been used to defame, and spread lies about myself. It was referring to me as a "pedophile", which is a false, and unsubstantiated accusation. It also solicits mine and other people's personal information with the intent to harass them. The main wiki page in reference is overall been used to organize, and document targeted harassment by individuals.

This page contains a youtube video that contains my own personal phone number multiple times: https://truecapitalist.miraheze.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Show_Episode_21

The main individual in question who has been making the offending edits about myself has a profile that can be found here: https://truecapitalist.miraheze.org/wiki/User:Cans_Abusing_Meme_Magician

I would like to ask for assistance in preventing my personal information to be released as well as removing content making serious false allegations. I feel that the main wiki where this is taking place is not doing anything productive or informative, and by nature is entirely nefarious.

Thank you,

Problem with Upload file and can not log in to Phabricator?

Hi!

I am a new user and have just started a site! But can not upload files? And are not allowed to log in to Phabricator? I wonder if there can be something that I have missed here? Best regards from https://swedishmuseum.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page_Archive /VisbyStar

Hi, What errors are you seeing (for both file uploads and Phabricator). ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 20:15, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
For upload file it is: Action failed

Jump to navigationJump to search Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/7/78/20190906_171010.jpg". Make sure your upload directory is configured correctly and your web server has permission to write to that directory. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Manual:$wgUploadDirectory for more information.

and for Phabricator it is: Du har inte behörighet att utföra den åtgärd du begärt. (in Swedish) It says I am not allowed to do this request.
We're looking into the file upload issue and regarding Phabricator, Are you signing up via the 'Mediawiki account' option. (You can only create an account if you use that to link your Miraheze account). ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 20:25, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

In addition to failure to attribute the material to Wikipedia editors, which you mentioned to the user on his talk page, the user might not understand that Meta is not for individual wiki-building but for the designated purposes, and has all the templates it needs unless people decide to add new features to it. Does he need additional permissions to use the Move button successfully? (If so, the Move button ought not to be visible to him.) Is there a coding error in an Abuse Filter? Spıke (talk)03:38 18-Jan-2020

@Spike: @Naleksuh: That is strange, did the message say anything else? Did you try again after? I've checked the abuse log and there are no logs for Naleksuh, so it does not seem to be from there. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:28, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
I think there's a default speed limit within the MW core system for any actions by users that are not admins nor bots. Maybe he might have been acting too fast (ex. 10+ moves per minute). Sourav Halder

After adding to Meta templates Meta didn't need, this user has taken to welcoming newbies, including some without contributions whose names are typical for spambots. If you support this effort, he should get autopatrolled. If not, you should do something. Spıke (talk)11:45 8-Mar-2020

Yesterday, RhinosF1 blocked Sourav for one month. A discussion continued at User talk:Sourav Halder. The block concerned ballot-stuffing at RfIA. What happened is one of the following:

  1. User created sockpuppets to vote himself additional authority multiple times
  2. User induced playground pals to come to Miraheze to all vote him additional authority
  3. User is just a popular guy and a bunch of people arrived with nothing better to do than vote for him.

Ballot-stuffing is misbehavior. We cannot have government, plus our presumption that we will all be anonymous to one another, without guarding against ballot stuffing. However, RhinosF1 told Sourav that he could appeal for a Checkuser; if Sourav was really banned for creating sockpuppets, I think the Checkuser should precede the ban. And Checkuser is not always conclusive, and does not preclude the unlikely third option I present above.

In my opinion, a better outcome is this:

  • Void the votes of the new users
  • Possibly ban the new users if Admins are certain they have no legitimate purpose for joining Miraheze except to win a vote
  • Possibly void the entire ballot
  • Monitor Sourav, as he has repeatedly shown the impulse to be, or put himself forward as, Miraheze government, rather than do actual creative work.

However, the whole affair strikes me as failing to Assume Good Faith, much like the PlavorSeol affair. Spıke (talk)01:22 11-Mar-2020

For me, the behavourial evidence was pretty obvious. A CheckUser returned supoorting technical evidence when it was done. The votes of the puppets are struck and they have been blocked. Aa you point out, this is not the first issue woth Sourav. Taking their reaction to deny it and past behaviour, I believe a short block was appropaite. They are welcome back as Sourav after the block expires if they positively contribute. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 05:52, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
My opinion is that due to the lack of urgency in this case (since it wasn't direct vandalism), a block could've waited until a confirmation from a CheckUser, even though I agree that the behavioral evidence was clear in this case. Perhaps it is time to think about requirements for account age when it comes to voting (a few days before the vote perhaps) to fix this issue. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:18, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
I like that proposal. (Then again, I am a dinosaur who likes the real-world requirement to register to vote — rather than just show up — so that all parties can know exactly who the voters are.) Surely votes on policy, and on treatment of misbehaving users, should "freeze the voter list" at the risk of "disenfranchising" newbies. So votes from users whose registration timestamp is after the creation of the RfC are thrown out. (If you really care about the issue, you can see it being drafted in someone's userspace before creation of the RfC, register then, and get around this rule, and that's fine.)
Young voters especially hope to be activists (and maybe President) the moment they join a new club (which was part of the problem with PlavorSeol and Sourav!). Those with experience look around and learn first. Spıke (talk)09:39 11-Mar-2020

I know that. However, there are a few problems. If you make a link as shown, the link will become longer.(It is also assumed to be used in the summary.) The link fails when the system crashes in the English Wikipedia. And, there are quite a few users who speaks Japanese in Miraheze. It is very convenient to be able to link directly. --そらたこ (talk) 17:09, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

User talk:209.239.100.126 needs to semi protected for the duration of the rangeblock affecting the IP address, as this particular IP in the range is posting gibberish and obscenities to their talk page. There does not appear to be enough talk page disruption across the range to merit a range-wide removal of talk page access (unless there are deleted talk page edits that I can't see). Amanda Catherine (talk) 23:49, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Revoked TP as IP Range is static, not dynamic - history of abuse on the range so sufficient to revoke TP to me if it continues on a talk page. Legitimate users can appeal via email. John (talk) 00:12, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Bonnedav rollback request

Hello,

I wish to request the rollback right on meta so that I may better assist in combating spam and vandalism to keep meta a clean place for the miraheze community to come together. I understand that is right is only for meta and does not affect any other wikis. I agree to only rollback edits that clearly violate policy and leave anything else up to the admins, bureaucrats, and stewards.

Thank you for considering.

Bonnedav (talk) 04:49, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

I do not see much anti-vandalism work on meta. How can you demonstrate previous counter vandalism experience? ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:44, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
I don't have a lot of experience but I have read the policies and hope to learn and gain more experience. However I did assist in reverting an attack on nonciclopedia.org where a user was adding a political message to the top of every page. Thank you. Bonnedav (talk) 17:34, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
@RhinosF1 Im sorry if this is inappropriate but it has been 9 days since my reply and I feel it prudent to bump both this and the page deletion request below. I understand I have limited experience but I have been monitoring the recent changes and marking good edits as patrolled. I have not encountered any vandalism yet but when I do I will undo it but I would like to have the rollback right so I may do so more quickly. However I will understand if you decide not to grant my request at this time. Thank you. Bonnedav (talk) 17:00, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

User:Ucronistaw displaying on Special:BrokenRedirects special page, but link is blue

This is strange, the user page for User:Ucronistaw is displaying on the Special:BrokenRedirects special page as a redirect to a non-existent target, and clicking on the non-existent target confirms the target page was deleted. However, clicking on the subject user page displays a blue wikilink redirect to the target user page, which is displayed. Is this an error in Special:BrokenRedirects, or is this a problem with the page cache at User:Ucronistaw needing to be purged? If the latter, I have noticed there's no "purge" link for me. Protection level at Miraheze Volunteers

The Miraheze Volunteers page invites editors to add themselves, regardless of their user groups and privileges they may hold; however, as the page is protected to autoconfirmed users, new users cannot add themselves. I think the administrator-level move protection is still useful as this is a key page that shouldn't be renamed or moved without a brief discussion; however, seeing as the Edit=Allow only autoconfirmed users protection level was made over three years ago, I'm wondering if we can remove the edit protection from the page. If vandalism reoccurs, we can easily re-add it. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:43, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done User must have 10 edits + 4 days old only. No reason for edit by new accounts.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 17:51, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
MrJaroslavik Yes, I realize that is the case for autoconfirmed users, but for users who are less than four days old but want to add themselves, they can't. As well, the page doesn't specify that editing is limited only to autoconfirmed users. Since page protection should, presumably, be employed when the page or template is linked to or transcluded on a high number of pages or for prevention of real harm, it seems reasonable to remove the page protection on a single page where it may not be needed anymore. Can you possibly give reconsideration to this request? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:55, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
Again: No reason for edit by new users. If anyone want add yourself he can request here, on talk page, or can request confirmed user right. --MrJaroslavik (talk) 17:57, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
Okay. I'll revise this request...

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Can you modify the text that says, "Below is a list of staff and volunteers. Feel free to add yourself[,]" to "Below is a list of staff and volunteers. Any autoconfirmed user may had themselves to this page if they wish. If you are not yet autoconfirmed, please start a discussion at the talk page or at the administrators' noticeboard." Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 18:04, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

The way I see it, the idea behind the page protection is mainly the fact that someone isn't really considered a "volunteer" if they don't have 10 edits and an account age of 4 days. At that point, a user is still discovering how Miraheze works and trying out things. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:27, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
@Reception: Okay, fair enough. I guess that's generally likely true and users may create an account, then abandon it and not (really) come back. I still think some added clarity with my suggested rewording, which could be modified or expanded in some way, would be helpful here, but I won't be fussed if you guys don't feel any changes to the page wording are needed, either. Otunga has been permanently banned from the NutScript Community due to Proven situations he was involved in with Fraudulent and scamming behaviors. The creator of NutScript is Chessnut and his successor Black RebelTea. This user "Otunga" is merely trying to adopt the wiki to delete it, if not flood it with material nothing related to the script. He does not develop for the Script, nor have any useful attributes to it. He is merely a mapper on a game called Garry's Mod; giving him the wiki will just destroy what we have had. It's a little unclear what exactly you're looking to be changed in the inactive/closure wiki site notices, but if it's what I think you're suggesting, I'd  Strong support such a change. I think all we should/need to do here is add an automatic counter that counts down the name of time remaining until it's eligible for deletion and then displays that to the visitor. I'd also like to see a column added to Special:WikiDiscover that indicates this as well, or, better yet, two columns which prints the time since the last status change (if marked as "inactive" or "closed") and also the time remaining until being eligible for "deletion" (again, only for those marked as "inactive" or "close"; for others, it would print "N/A" or "Not applicable"). @Void:, do you think this would be possible? Dmehus (talk) 16:02, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
This would require a technical change, and therefore would need a phabricator task. -- Void Whispers 21:27, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

User:El Komodos Drago - Request for Autopatrolled

In the course of patrolling, I came across a well-articulated, properly signed comment on one of the remaining open RfCs. Reviewing the user's global accounts and edit counts, the user has nearly 1,000 global edits across many wikis. The user is somewhat less active on Meta, but still has a very respectable 76 edits. Looked through the user's recent contributions on Meta, and saw no concerns. As well, the user has had a global Miraheze account for nearly two years. So, similar to other recent autopatrolled user right grants, I'd like to request that El Komodos Drago be granted autopatrolled. Thanks,

Problem with auto archiving of Meta:Administrators' noticeboard

Could any local administrator who has regular direct contact with –revi possibly reach out to –revi to investigate why the bot hasn't archived the Deletion warnings thread at the top of this page? Of course, I could manually archive this thread, but seeing as the bot's archiving schedule is set up to archive threads at after 14 days, it should've been archived by now. In the course of composing this message, I just realized that Revibot hasn't archived anything on this noticeboard since administrator MrJaroslavik made this change to the archive configuration on this page, so it's perhaps possible something either needs to be fixed to that configuration or –revi may need to update the bot's code to match? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:01, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Well, technically, Revibot did archive this thread since the above configuration change, but given that that archiving was done within less than one hour the archive configuration change, it was likely already "queued up," so the problem could still be related. User:Dmehus - Request for translationadmin

In the course of my WikiGnome- and WikiJanitor-like maintenance and editing on Meta, I occasionally come across pages that are either (a) not marked for translation that should be or (b) have had significant updates since last being marked for translation, and would like to be able to prepare pages for translation. I realize that administrator permissions are required to mark pages protected at sysop level, but most pages on Meta are either unprotected or protected only minimally (i.e., at levels I can edit). Plus, seeing as our only other non-administrator translation administrator has been inactive on Meta for nearly the past year, this will be a very useful user right for me to have. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

On hold Dmehus was contacted on discord about translation extension and other things.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 18:09, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Done After a short talk with Dmehus on Discord, Dmehus have tested the extension translate and is experienced with it. He also declared that he would use the rights to mark pages for translation after update (e.g. When another user forgot to mark for translation/request it), he will use TA's rights for marking after his own changes (typo fix, grammar correcting, wikilinking). Also @Dmehus: if you will need any help with translate extension, fix anything on locked page or for example delete any part of translation, feel free to contact me, post here on AN, IRC/Discord or alert another admin on their talk page.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 18:40, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, MrJaroslavik. I shouldn't need to use it very often, but will be helpful if I come across less visited pages that have had significant updates to them and hadn't been remarked for translation. For the most part, it's fairly straightforward, but if I have any questions, I won't hesitate to {{ping}} you or another administrator on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 18:52, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Please add an editnotice for this noticeboard

So all noticeboards will be the same InspecterAbdel (talk) 15:02, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

And please remove that Meta: in the name, it got reverted — Preceding unsigned comment added by InspecterAbdel (talkcontribs) 15:05, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

We can look at an edit notice but it is specifically in the meta namespace because this is a noticeboard for things involving meta admins. It is meta specific unlike the other two. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 15:07, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
Comment: I wonder if @InspecterAbdel: means the generic edit notice related to signing one's posts? If that's the case, I'd  Support adding that to this noticeboard as well. It's useful and possibly modestly effective. Dmehus (talk) 16:32, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Yes, I was talking about that one InspecterAbdel (talk) 16:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Okay, thanks for clarifying. Also, thanks for signing your posts. You are quite active on Meta, so I want to nominate you for autopatrolled so your edits don't need patrolling, but am waiting until I see seven days' worth of posts that don't require {{unsigned}} to be added. I am definitely seeing improvement, though, so keep up the good work. Dmehus (talk) 16:58, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Question: Will there be a feature where signatures are automatically signed? InspecterAbdel (talk) 17:02, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: DiscussionTools should help in this regard (when MediaWiki version 1.35 rolls out more broadly and to Miraheze), as it's similar in that way to Structured Discussions (formerly known as Flow). Flow has some issues, but I personally prefer it on other wikis where I am a bureaucrat. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 17:06, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Also, I think there should be an editnotice for RfC's and Requests for adoption InspecterAbdel (talk) 17:23, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Oh, if it's not there already, yeah, I'd support adding that there as well. That's technically a global page, but since this is just adding an edit notice, any Meta administrator can probably add it (if not, they'll have a Meta administrator who is also a Global Sysop or a steward do it). Dmehus (talk) 17:25, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I don't se any problems so  created at MediaWiki:Editnotice-4-Administrators' noticeboard.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 19:04, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

@MrJaroslavik:, thanks. Can you also check Requests for adoption and see if that edit notice is there, too, and, if not, add it? Dmehus (talk) 19:52, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

User:SolidBlock - Request for autopatrolled

I'd like to request that SolidBlock, with 255 edits on Meta and more than 1,200 global edits spanning over three and a half years, be granted autopatrolled by any administrator. Looked briefly through the past ten discussion contributions on Meta, spanning nearly two years, and noted no unsigned, missed signatures. User clearly knows Meta's scope, so I have no concerns. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 04:17, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Done by @MrJaroslavik: per this request on Meta:Administrators' noticeboard, and per no apparent need to patrol. Dmehus (talk) 21:05, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

User:Colby Russell - Request for autopatrolled and confirmed

I'd like to request for any administrator to please grant Colby Russell autopatrolled indefinitely and, on a temporary basis of between 3-12 months confirmed user status, so the user can edit semi-protected pages. In my discussions with Colby on various talk pages on Meta, it's clear to me that the two most important criteria for these user group rights, that the user (a) remembers to sign and date their discussion contributions and (b) knows the scope and purpose of Meta are met. As well, the user is a bureaucrat and administrator on the Triple Scripts Wiki, where he has already made nearly 300 edits. Further, the user is active on the Wikimedia wikis, especially MediaWiki. Together with the user's status as a developer, I am very confident in the user's abilities, and would've requested these user group rights sooner, but wanted to wait at least thirty days. My reason for requesting confirmed temporarily is because it is a duplication of autoconfirmed, so once the user is autopromoted to that group, it won't be required. Looking at Special:ListUsers/confirmed, we do have a few confirmed users on Meta who are active on other Miraheze-hosted wikis, so there's definitely precedent for this, and this is such a strong use case. Dmehus (talk) 17:25, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Done for autopatrolled /  Not done for confirmed - already is autoconfirmed user.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 18:23, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@MrJaroslavik: That's great, thanks. At the time I submitted this request, the user wasn't yet autoconfirmed, but I did suggest to the user to make only six more edits on Meta to be autopromoted (at Talk:Custom domains), so it seems that's what he did. Nonetheless, thanks again. Dmehus (talk) 18:32, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Category:Wikipedia indefinitely semi-protected pages - Request for history merge to Category:Indefinitely semi-protected pages and delete

Could any administrator kindly perform a history merge of Category:Wikipedia indefinitely semi-protected pages to Category:Indefinitely semi-protected pages, the latter of which had already existed but as an empty category with no history. Now that I have corrected Module:Protection banner/config used by {{pp-template}}, there is such a strong use case to history merge in my revision(s) from the former into the latter, after which the former can be swiftly deleted. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:31, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

User:InspecterAbdel - Request for autopatrolled

InspecterAbdel has more than 100 edits on Meta, which, in and of itself, is not necessarily enough for autopatrolled; however, the user is helpful on the noticeboards, has demonstrated they know Meta's scope and limitations, and understands the purpose of each noticeboard. My only concern was the user's forgetting to sign their posts, with my having to add {{unsigned}} as recently as a week ago. However, separately, I had the user really make a concerted effort over the past week, and agreed to nominate them for autopatrolled on 1 August 2020 when I was satisfied that the improvement had been met. I'm now satisfied, particularly with the user also adding {{unsigned}} signatures correctly to other users' posts, and because I haven't had to add {{unsigned}} to the user's signatures for (roughly) the past week. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 18:42, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Oh, thank you for requesting this! I appreciate it a lot! InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:57, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

When will extension Score be working again?

It has been a while that I get an error message, in my wiki in German: LilyPond konnte nicht ausgeführt werden: /dev/null ist eine nicht ausführbare Datei. Es muss sichergestellt sein, dass $wgScoreLilyPond in der Konfigurationsdatei richtig eingestellt wurde. Will the extension Score ever work again? We were made aware of a security issue so we switched it off. As soon as they fixed that, they found another. Sorry, ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 05:13, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi, to keep you updated, We were supposed to be waiting on the public disclosure and fix but have now been told that the fix is leaking memory and been stopped so it could be longer. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:30, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Restoring autopatrolled for User:Cocopuff2018

User:Cocopuff2018

Reason: About a few days ago, MrJaroslavik‎ removed me from autopatrolled without any consult of the admins nor was there any notice of this removal he told me to go to another admin as if he had no idea how to handle it and seems to poorly handle dealing with issues. On top of that this is considered power abuse as it was not part of the actions taken when I was banned from the Miraheze Discord server, this was not part of the actions taken, so here is my proposal:

  • Proposal 1 - Restore my autopatrolled (proposal 1 support, oppose, strong support)
  • Proposal 2 - Make a Meta guideline including autopatrolled to be voted on before being removed from a user (because this makes it fair to everyone)
  • Proposal 3 - Hide the removal of my autopatrolled from the log (because this clearly does not need to be there for everyone to see)

and let's just add on I am unhappy with how MrJaroslavik,‎ as he refuses to answer any other concerns I have towards this matter. It was poorly handled and should be dealt with using the new 3 proposals.

 Support Proposal 1, 2, 3, it was an unfair removal Cocopuff2018 14:25, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

  • Autopatrolled is a right given to people we trust that's edits don't require further review. Given you are under active sanctions both on and off wiki for harrasment, I don't think that applies and I standby all 3 proposals. I'm therefore  Oppose all the options. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:29, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
  • (edit conflict) Not done First of all, autopatrolled is not a right that requires votes or community discussions. Autopatrolled is a right that is delegated by Meta administrators to users they trust to allow them to patrol revisions. Autopatrolled is not a "status" and it serves a purpose, to patrol the edits of less experienced users. MrJaroslavik revoked your autopatrolled because he felt that you can no longer be trusted, and at this time you have given no evidence that you can be trusted to get autopatrolled back. Thirdly, the request to hide the removal from the log is absurd, we do not perform such censorship. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:33, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Oppose 2 & 3, they are 100% unnecessary. For proposal 2, if you do that for removal you also need to do it for adding it which would just make no one get it. For 3, why would you possibly want to hide any logs? They need to be there for record purposes.User:Universal Omega/Sig  14:35, 13 August 2020 (UTC) |

Having reviewed edits, I am not sure why autopatrolled was removed from your account. I'm going to invite @MrJaroslavik: to review his decision and provide evidence of meta-based evidence to back up his decision. If there is not a satisfactory response, I am tempted to restore autopatrolled based on discretion as an administrator. John (talk) 14:35, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
I concur with @John: completely here, but wished @Cocopuff2018: might've waited, as I planned to discuss this, first, privately with other administrators. Sure, Cocopuff2018 has issues making typographical errors, but that's not a reason, on its own, to remove autopatrolled. Autopatrolled, primarily, reduces the patrol backlog of autopatrolled users and administrators. So, I personally do feel that autopatrol should be re-added. The issues with respect to Cocopuff2018 not respecting no contact orders and excessive pings on Discord and IRC are separate issues, and should be dealt with separately (which they are). Dmehus (talk) 15:01, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
I hope I don't conflict with anyone here but I would just like to add that another issue here is an odd thing we have on Meta - the fact that autopatrolled users can also patrol other users. This right should probably be split into a "Patroller" group. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:05, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
@Reception123: (edit conflict) Completely agree with you here that we may want to consider including autopatrol in the autoconfirmed implicit user group, and renaming the "autopatrolled users" to "patrollers." We could also just create a separate "Patrollers" group, too. I'd support either of those options, and was thinking of a potential draft local Meta RfC in the next couple months (have some other higher priority ones, though). Dmehus (talk) 15:09, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
I wouldn't be against splitting it into a separate group as @Reception123: suggested. Actually I think that's a great idea. User:Universal Omega/Sig  15:10, 13 August 2020 (UTC) |
Comment: FWIW, Cocopuff2018 hasn't patrolled any revisions, per this log page. I don't think the user necessarily wants to do any active patrolling, so, while I think we should consider splitting the groups, we've got some time here to do this and get this right. Cocopuff2018 is mainly concerned with having their revisions autopatrolled. They do know Meta's scope, purpose, and are fairly active. I'm active on Meta and can fix any issues with Cocopuff2018's comments (i.e., indentation or wikitext coding issues). Dmehus (talk) 15:16, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
I suggest adding patrol privileges to the existing Rollbackers group.I'm still thinking about what to do with the group name.--松•Matsu (talk) 15:31, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
@: I wouldn't say I'd be opposed to this, to simplify the number of user groups added to rollbackers, but I still think we should have a separate Patrollers group because rollback is a serious user right, and shouldn't necessarily be granted to the same users capable of patrolling revisions. So, I'd favour a separate group, however that works itself out. As to group names, I favour autopatrolled users, as is currently the case, and patrollers as they are users that would be patrolling other users' edits. Dmehus (talk) 15:47, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Hey Cocopuff2018, 1) Every time you contacted me on my discussion page, I replied to you. You could contact another administrator who might consider restore of your 'autopatrolled' right. 2) If you think it was power abuse, you can create confirm vote (request of no confidence) on Meta:RfP per policy.
3) Autopatrolled from your account was removed for (also reply to @John:):
  • Harassment other users (for example k6ka, he blocked you on discord, you harrasment him though IRC despite his request to leave him)
  • Ghost pings (message with ping, then deleted) on discord - in 3+ cases
  • I think autopatrolled users should know they should sign their comments
  • Per Code of Conduct - there Discord and IRC are included - "Harassment of other users is unacceptable. Depending on the severity of your actions, you may be warned once or immediately banned/quieted depending on the medium."
  • 'autopatrolled' group include 'patrol' right
--MrJaroslavik (talk) 15:06, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

hello, but still I am truly sorry for what I did and will never do what I did again. I feel that the removal was still unfair and want to make things right. I don't want to make this a huge deal or anything. I just feel you could have at least messaged me on my wall of why I was removed and as above IRC and Discord is not part of actions taken on the platform itself Cocopuff2018 15:16, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply @MrJaroslavik:. As you've not made the decision based upon Meta evidence, and I do not see any evidence of misuse of the rights on Meta, I'm going to take the decision to restore the rights. John (talk) 15:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
