The Mirror

The problem is not that the blue box doesn't have a margin, but that the sidebar or news page does not.

Thanks for visiting The Mirror, and for your comment on the formatting! What happens is that {{News}} plants a list of recent news articles. But then MH:TheMirror:MediaWiki:Common.js moves the entire list out to the website sidebar. I see that it first calls for a right margin of 0; I must have had a reason for that! If I'm wrong, that's the place to make the change. I'll look into this from my phone, as my only PC that has access to The Mirror has standing orders not to display the sidebar at all.

Yes, exactly. What I explain, above, is that there is JavaScript code on TheMirror that moves the box from where you see it to where I see it. You might be running with JavaScript disabled, or over a very slow connection. I don't really care that it has no right margin, because I don't intend that it remain there! However, I may have given it a right margin, and this is why the JavaScript cancels it; then later I removed the right margin as unnecessary.

About the undotted i's, I am mistaken; I was viewing your signature on a PC with no dots on its i's. A delusion of self-reference on my part.

I moved your post from my talk page to yours to unify the discussion. On my talk page, you had a <DIV> to force your remarks to a fixed width. This is unnecessary, because [ |thumb|left| ] makes text "float" around it to the right. Spıke (talk) 12:40 30-Jun-2020

You are right, a different skin might change a lot of things. I'm using Modern right now. I'll play with this, but am more likely to recommend a specific skin "for best results" than to change the code until it works with every skin. Spıke (talk) 20:29 30-Jun-2020

A note about Extension:Score

Hi,

I just wanted to make it clear that we haven't forgotten about your wiki and score. We are currently still under advice to leave the extension disabled and unfortunately we don't have much hope that it's going to be restored anytime soon. I have spoken to our own security advisor to see what our best next steps are but if there's anyway we can help you while Score is disabled, please let us know.

Interested in running for global interwiki administrator?

Hi Lily,

While you wait for a steward to respond to your request for local interwiki administrator on your wikis, I did take a look at your global contributions in CentralAuth. Together with both your global contributions and activity on community noticeboard, both in requesting assistance from the community and responding to community members' requests, your multilingual nature, and your technical competency level, I actually think you'd be an ideal global interwiki administrator. You can still be a local interwiki administrator (as Universal Omega is on one of his wikis), but this would just enable you to respond to interwiki link requests on any wikis (except Meta, mainly for technical reasons). Let me know if interested, and I'd be happy to nominate you for this role and/or wiki creator, if you're interested.

@Lily: For global interwiki administrator, there's no real minimum time commitment required as @Cocopuff2018: has correctly pointed out. Indeed, currently, there's not even an inactivity clause, but, as part of a planned omnibus interwiki administration reform RfC, I would like to implement a 12 month inactivity clause whereby the user has made no log actions or edits on Meta in 12 months, they may have the rights procedurally removed by a steward. As far as wiki creator goes, there's no hard activity requirement, but as a general guideline, I like to encourage being able to review 3-5 wiki requests per week. Each one only takes about five minutes, so if you volunteered 2-3 hours per week, that would be more than adequate and much appreciated. Dmehus (talk) 16:26, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

Regarding Asking for JS Help

Hi, I noticed that you are asking for JS help to several people. I tried doing this in the console- const test = mw.loader.load('//meta.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=User:Redmin/patrol.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); console.log(Object.values(Object.values(params))); . Here, params is defined in the script that I loaded. This worked perfectly in the console but not in my userscript. R4356th (talk) 12:25, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

R4356th Thank you for your support. I have asked Dmehus, but got no answer so I tried finding some else who is firm with JavaScript. I thought my idea should not be a big deal for someone who is experienced with Js. It was just an idea for making maintainance of my scripts easier by splitting the long link lists into shorter ones. About Scribunto

Hello, Lily. :)

As you might know, the Widgets extension has been disabled from Miraheze due to security issues and, according to @Dmehus, you use quite a lot of Lua with Scribunto, so I was wondering if I could tell if it's possible to embed HTML content, just like in Widgets, with Scribunto I never used Lua before btw. I'm aware it's also possible with JS/JQuery, but it does have a noticeable lag (not ideal for me).

I am administrating my own wikis here now. On wikipedia I have almost no rights, and the admins have deleted some of my edits what made me very angry because my work was lost. So I stopped to edit on wikipedia and write my own wikis where I have much more freedom. I created a second account in the time when I was active to publish stuff into the PD and I did not want to use my real name any longer.
